RiverWoods Accepting Applications for Beneficiary of 2018 Gala Event

Previous Gala Fundraising Totaled More Than $120,000 for Local Non-Profit

RiverWoods Gala Raises Record $120,000 for Society of St Vincent de Paul Exeter

Exeter – Following the record success of the 2016 Gala hosted and organized by RiverWoods, the Exeter-based non-profit organization is putting out the call to all greater Exeter area non-profits who are interested in being the next Gala recipient. In October, RiverWoods held its tenth Gala fundraiser benefitting the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Exeter, which raised a record of $120,000 in one night for the local charity. RiverWoods is now seeking applications from 501c-3 organization in the greater Exeter area who would be interested in partnering to raise money for their organization.

“After another extremely successful event we are looking forward to preparing for the 2018 Gala,” says Penny Teodorczyk, Chair of the 2016 RiverWoods Gala. “Our residents and staff enjoy the opportunity to work closely with other non-profits. We are excited to spend the following two years working closely with our next partner.”

The deadline for applications is February 28, 2017. A committee of RiverWoods residents and staff will join together to review each application and choose the organization that is most compatible with RiverWoods’ mission. Once the partnership is formed RiverWoods and the organization will hold several staff and resident events leading up to the 2018 Gala. RiverWoods will organize a “RiverWoods Reach Out” day for the staff and residents to volunteer at the organization. RiverWoods strongly believes in creating a partnership with the beneficiary that will last beyond the Gala.

Today, RiverWoods residents and staff contribute hundreds of hours each year to numerous nonprofits. Over the past ten Gala Auctions more than $600,000 was raised to benefit organizations including Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Exeter, Child and Family Services, Seacoast Hospice and New Outlook Teen Center. Interested non-profit groups should visit the RiverWoods website and apply online. Applications are accepted from now through February 28, 2017. The committee will narrow the choices to three finalists and a final choice will be named in April of 2017. All 501c-3 nonprofits in greater Exeter area are welcome to apply. “Family health and wellness is the goal of our efforts, but we welcome input and ideas from any agency that is serving the community and we want to hear from them,” says Gala chair Teodorczyk.

The 2016 Gala was the most successful to date. With 400 local residents, business owners and community leaders in attendance the event generated a record amount of $120,000 to benefit Saint Vincent de Paul Exeter, the area’s leading agency that provides: food, dental, medical, employment assistance, fuel assistance and homeless outreach to other neighbors struggling in poverty.

“The partnership with the RiverWoods community has been rewarding and beneficial for all involved,” explains Molly Zirillo, Executive Director of SVdP Exeter. “We had never before hosted a fund-raiser of this magnitude, and we raised more funds than ever before in our organization’s history. We are extremely grateful not only to RiverWoods but to the generous community of greater Exeter.”

The 2016 Gala sold out with several businesses donating to the cause including a $10,000 donation from LECESSE, a gift of $5,000 from Honda Barn, and donations of $2,500 from Donahue, Tucker & Ciandella, People’s United Bank, Convenient MD, Clifton Larson Allen, Ziegler, Granite Group and Greystone.
